About the English Blogs of the Quran

This is a great recitation from the Quran, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do:

I love reading any non-Muslims interpretation of the English Quran, it is good for new insights and does not take up as much time as reading the Arabic texts. My only advice for those who want to try it is to read also the interpretations of the Quran (Tafesser) because the English Quran does not have most of the details of the Arabic Quran. The Quran has very few pages compared to most other books but the style is very compresed and compact. The details are not hidden, but can not be translated without makeing the English Quran 30 to 50 volumes at least - that is not an exageration.

If anyone wants somethings in the Quran explained please do not hesitate to ask me to look it up for you here:

http://www.elsharawy.com/

This is one of the best known Arabic blogs of the Quran. I like to call him the Jewel of the Nile (rip), the recordings are very entertaining, this is good becuase It takes him hours to explain each page. The volcabulary required includes why other words were not used instead of the ones in the Quran. The explanation also includes how the words and word combinations are used and this includes many great poems by anceint poets. The sentence structures also add meaning as does the grammar.

The anceint Egyptians who built the Pyramids are still around, only now they speak Arabic and their Imams explain the Quran to the rest of us. The Muslim and Arab world do have scholars of the Quran, but even us old Saudis prefer that old Egyptian Imam - maybe we might have another one Jewel of the Nile soon :)

"what that means is..." :

The Arabic part is vital in one way, there can be no religious authority in explaining the Quran. If someone tries to twist the meanings to his or her likeing (Hawa) a simple person who knows good Arabic can expose them right away. Readers of the English Quran (and other languages)have to depend on others to tell them what the Quran is saying, in Arabic it depends only on how good your Arabic is.

Poets of all languages also have an advantage over people with no poetry ability. The Quran has no poetry but it uses words to convey images that poetry can not even dream of portraying - this helps understanding of the verses.

Thank you, and welcome :)

The reciter in that great recording is the Pakistani Qari "Sadaqat Ali" who was the best student of the Egyptian Qari "Abdul-Basit". Qari means "reader" or reciter.

Imam Sharawy was exiled from Egypt to Saudi in the 60s. His life story was made into a 30 part TV series for Ramadan 4 years ago. It broke most TV show records in the Arab world.

Azooz,
I just saw your comment to my post http://actionpatriots.blogspot.com/ sorry for the delay in a reply.
Well very interesting! But completely off base, you seem to think that only Arab speaking Muslims can read and interpret the Quran. I disagree, that is a very typical Muslim accusation to deflect what is the real truth. If one could only understand the meaning of the Quran by reading it in Arabic then I dare say three quarters of Islam would be out of luck! Although Muslims are required to read and recite the Quran most are not Arabic speakers, and very few Arabic speakers can read the Quran in the real language that it was written in Classical Arabic, over 100 years after Muhammad’s death thus it is purely word of mouth! My guess is that you do not speak or read classical Arabic thus even you by your own standards will not understand its meaning. The fact is that most of the Muslim world memorizes the Quran, rote, and then regurgitates it without knowing what it says or means. The Quran is written in a language and at least for learned and educated people all of whom are in the Western world, it can be translated into any language and it has been, the Quran has been translated into over 100 different languages to accommodate Muslims around the world who do not speak Arabic and that has been done by very knowledgeable Arabic scholars. The fact is that the Quran and Mohammad-ibn-Abdallah (Yimach Shmo- May his name and memory be obliterated) is a violent and hateful diatribe manufactured for the consumption of an illiterate and gullible audience. You can not deny the meaning of the “Verse of the Sword” or these quotes; Omar Ahmad the co-founder of C.A.I.R:

"Those who stay in America should be open to society without melting, keeping Mosques open so anyone can come and learn about Islam. If you choose to live here, you have a responsibility to deliver the message of Islam ... Islam isn't in America to
be equal to any other faiths, but to become dominant. The Koran, the Muslim book
of scripture, should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only
accepted religion on Earth."
Oh by the way that one is English my native language and I think I can catch the drift!

IX. 38 - 39: Believers, why is it that when it is said to you: ‘March in the cause of God ’, you linger slothfully in the land? Are you content with this life in preference to the life to come? Few indeed are the blessings of this life, compared to those of the life to come. If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men.
IX. 41: Whether unarmed or well-equipped, March on and fight for the cause of God, with your wealth and with your persons. IX. 73: Prophet, make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal harshly with them.

“Islam says: Whatever good there is exists thanks to the sword and in the shadow of the sword! People cannot be made obedient except with the sword! The sword is the key to paradise, which can be opened only for holy warriors!
There are hundreds of other [Koranic] psalms and Hadith urging Muslims to value war and to fight. Does all that mean that Islam is a religion that prevents men from waging war? I spit upon those foolish souls who make such a claim.”
“Islam grew with blood . . . . The great prophet of Islam in one hand carried the Koran and in the other a sword . . . . Islam is a religion of blood for the infidels but a religion of guidance for other people.”
---Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini

The facts are indisputable Azooz, in 1500 years Islam has never coexisted with any indigenous people. I do not need to read or understand the Quran, which I do, to know that an ideology of hate, violence and intolerance is not in my best interest to have in my backyard. I do not need to know that an ideology which has murdered and enslaved millions over the years, that practice continues in your country to this day and you know it, is one which I can accept as an equal to my civilization. Having spent a lot of time in Saudi Arabia in such cities as Riyadh, Jeddah, having participated in three Hajjis, Abu Dhabi, Tehran, Isfahan, Muscat Oman, Dubai, Bagdad, Jakarta and Nigeria, I think I can understand the Muslim mindset. So hear is my challenges to you, Azooz, take one day, if you think Islam and your fellow adherents are so tolerant and us Western idiots are so wrong and stand on a Riyadh street corner and shout at the top of your voice that the pagan god you worship is a “pig fucker” and Muhammad is an illiterate fraud! Please be sure to take a video of the seen so I can see just how long you keep your head! Go ahead Azooz prove me wrong! Your only choice if you really believe in humanity is to become an Apostate and I think you know do keep your head after that declaration, you will have to move to America!

Hello Flyer,

I wrote on your blog that I would not mind if my comment was deleted, but honoured that you decided to comment here. I really thought that my comment would be removed in hours otherwise I would not have wrote it.

Your ideas of the Quran can be tested by reading the Quran yourself. Even if you object to it I will enjoy reading your ideas about the Quran if you decide to write them down. I personaly think that over %90 of Muslims can not read it in Arabic. I do know classical Arabic well enough to know that that the Quran is written like nothing any human or group of humans can write.

Islam has never been spread by the sword, really that is a myth. No one must ever be forced into Islam, it must always be by free choice and that is from the Quran itself. The sword was used to lift the forighen armies, inquestions and injustices off our neighbors, never to spread Islam itself. You will notice that Arabia's neighbors are still the same peoples and races they were before Islam, only now the speak Arabic and most of them are Muslim.

I am trying to write a short article on how Egypt chose to became Arab, but have not had much time - I'll try to rush it a bit. Arabs are no longer a race, they are a people who speak Arabic, that is what I learned from the Egyptians themselves.

>>in 1500 years Islam has never coexisted
>>with any indigenous people.
In what Muslim country do you think that is true? Arabs are a minority among Muslims, and Islam teaches that all races are equal in the Eyes of God. If we mistreat anyone by our raceism we turn people off Islam, that is not Islamic and forbiden to all Muslims, Arab and other races to.

The Islam I know teaches mercy, love, tolarance and forgivness. It also teaches a high level of "Taqwa" meaning fear (and love) of God. If you fear of God more than I do, I'll try to learn from you. Just please slow down a bit and understand that Islam is not about hate or violence, that is just the media and propaganda attack that the airways are full of these days.

>>and Muhammad is an illiterate fraud!
Anyone write just one page like the Quran and Islam is over. Do you really think that an "illiterate fraud" can write as well as the writeing in the Quran? You can end Islam by just writing one page like the Quran - that is a challange straight from the Quran to all mankind.

The Quran can be read and understood by a young child in any language, but in Arabic it is unbelivably beautiful. However much you prefer your own language you will not be able to write anything like it, translate it properly or even come close. This has been true for over 14 centuries. There is nothing like it in the whole Arabic language, no one can write that well and with such high expresion but God Himself.

Please read the Quran, you will see that my race (Beduins) are mentioned there as the very worst infidals and hipocryts (sp), and Muslims have treated us well. We hate no one and also pray daily for God to help us remove all hate from our hearts towards all humans, Muslims or otherwise.

This is what the Quran tells me to say to your signiture: "The Unbeliever":

================================

In the name of God, the Compassionate, the Merciful.

Say: O unbelievers! I do not worship what you worship, and you do not worship Who I worship. I will not worship what you worship, and you will not worship Who I worship. To you your way, to me my way.

================================

That is from the Quran, Sowra 109 - try to write something like that about your own tolarance of those that belive in other than you belive in, and I will read it gladly.

Good luck and clear skys Flyer

Friends,
The article below is from Front Page Magazine and the article from the Daily Telegraph; link below, are again warning calls to all Americans that Islam the creeping cancer that has invaded the body politic in the West and America is on the march. In Malaysia yesterday, see this link;
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/09/01/wmalay101.xml&DCMP=EMC-new_01092007
The Chief Justice of the Malaysian Supreme Court stated that the country should be ruled under Islamic “Sharia” Law! This how it goes friends one little step at a time. Islam is” coming to America” and unlike the Eddie Murphy movie it is not a comedy. Friends, the politicos in Washington, apologist in Academia, the PC and Multicultural cocktail set and the “its America’s fault” guilt ridden ACLU and PBS pundits are betraying you and your country, they as much as Islam are your enemies! Islam in its 1500 year history has never co-existed with any other civilization and these two articles are reaffirming that statement. This is not a question of religion it is a question good verse evil. Islam tolerates no dissenters be it Christians, Jews, Atheist, Buddhist, Hindu or Christian Cops, none escape the sword of Islam. Do not be fooled by the mantra which is being perpetuated by the fools in Academia and Washington, it is not “Islamofacism”, “Islamic extremist”, or a few “Islamic radicals” It is Islam just “getting back to basics”!

Islam's War against Buddhism
By Dhammajarat
FrontPageMagazine.com | 4/4/2007
“Allahu Akbar”! The tinny P.A. system tore asunder the pre-dawn peace and quiet.
I was jolted in my mind, almost like experiencing a car wreck, suddenly and without any warning. This totally incongruous sound intruded upon and encompassed everything, causing even the birds to rustle in the darkness.

It was just after 4 a.m. I was seated underneath the holy Maha Bodhi Tree in Bodh Gaya, in the state of Bihar in India. It was a few days past the full moon of May 2004, a few days past Veesak. This was my second visit to this unparalleled location, the site of the Lord Buddha’s attainment of full Enlightenment over 2,500 years ago. Now, towards the end of my 10 day stay, I had applied for and been granted the great honor of permission to spend the night within the Maha Bodhi compound.

My plan was to spend the entire night practicing seated meditation, walking meditation, and circumambulation of the great Maha Bodhi Stupa. The air was warm and my practice was going very well as I alternated between the three practices, as the hours passed.

The beautiful waning full moon light filtering through the glistening leaves of the Maha Bodhi Tree, the soft fluttering of the leaves, the serene quiet, took me back to that time long ago when the Buddha himself had sat very near this same exact spot.

Or so I thought…….

The mussein’s call to prayer for the faithful of Islam, here in this most sacred location to all of Buddhism, ripped me back to modern reality. I was stunned! How could this be? Here in one of the most significant spots of Buddhism, loud speakers come on at four in the morning every day, to shock and intrude upon meditators and Buddhist practitioners using this spot for that which it has to offer in its most special way?

How could this be allowed? It is…

The Muslim call to prayer seemed to go on and on…..20 minutes to a half-hour later, the scratchy recording thankfully ended and quiet returned.

My concentration was thoroughly blown. Instead of following my breath, I found myself looking at the great distraction and paradox I had just experienced.

I thought about Mecca!

Could any other religion intrude itself there in the holiest of places to Islam, as the tenets of Islam had so intruded itself here in the holiest place of Buddhism?

No way! I could imagine immediate death being visited upon anyone that would even try – that is, if they would be admitted anywhere close to the Muslims’ holy Kabah – let alone be allowed to set up a loud public address system that would broadcast the message of another religion across the courtyards of the Grand Mosque, or any other Moslem religious site. The hypocrisy was astounding.

After awhile, I ceased to be so shocked and began to calm down. I began to see that this was merely a continuation of a long and sad trespass against Buddhism perpetrated by the faith of Islam.

In my previous visits to India, I had visited every site that was specific to the actual life of the Lord Buddha. At every location the pattern was the same: Just the partial foundations remaining of what had once been great Stupas or elaborate religious universities of Buddhist learning and practice. Even the place of the Buddha’s birth had been destroyed and buried, with modern day excavations only now giving some restoration.

I had learned from guides on location, and then from further studies once I returned home, that these locations had all been laid to waste in the early Moslem invasions of India, starting in the 900’s by Turkic hordes issuing forth from what is now Afghanistan, and continuing for over a thousand years until the Mughal era. A prolonged and calculated assault, an assault designed to wipe an entire belief, an entire religion, off the face of the Earth. The long history of Islam, being spread by the sword and by fire, had left its indelible mark on these wonderful peaceful, harmless, legacy sites of Buddhism.

I learned how the monks and nuns and religious students were slaughtered without mercy and piled up and burned, and all terrified survivors were driven like dry leaves before a strong wind, out of the region of India entirely, wherever this Islamic wind blew.

I was told this is how Buddhism actually came to Tibet and Southeast Asia, by Buddhists fleeing for their lives! My faith had been rendered a refugee faith via the tender mercies of Islam.

I learned how Islam was particularly unkind and brutal to Buddhists, because to Moslems the Buddhist represented the most reprehensible type of human personality: the “atheist” holding no monotheistic God image as their object of worship and veneration. We were worse even than the far more numerous Hindus, with their vast pantheon of multiple gods. The Buddhists, to the Muslims, only worshipped the image of a man, and no God higher.

Apparently they did not bother to look into the philosophies of Buddhism any more deeply. That was enough for the sword to come down and the fire to be applied. And so they have over the centuries until today.

I remember, some years back, before the gripping situations that we face today had quite come in to focus for many of us, I followed the story of the great Buddhas of Bamiyan, in sad and war torn Afghanistan. The Russian war was over, and the rein of the Taliban was in full force, but they were not content to merely rule the people with an iron hand by the strictest applications of Sharia law. They had to physically erase the “infidel” past, as well.

I remember shedding tears as I saw the footage of those magnificent Buddhas, the tallest ancient statues in the world, being reduced to rubble by explosive charges and artillery shells. I remembered hearing on the news footage, that same cry of “Allahu Akbar!” – as the dust of Bamiyan settled to reveal the emptiness of the destruction. The same cry that destroyed my meditative absorption under the Bodhi Tree.

Now, I pray we never hear this call in this our home, America. Not until and unless Islam totally and completely reforms itself after over a thousand years of ravaging and sweeping all others before it.

I feel, through my direct experiences of it, that Islam has not changed its ways in the least. In fact it has become more aggressive now than at any time since its period of greatest expansion in the 900s to the 1200s. “Modern” Islam seeks to return humanity to those very same times – a revival of the dark ages of Islamic slaughter, mayhem, and pillage – all in the name of Allah.

We Buddhists must realize that we, and our cherished practices, would be swept away entirely and crushed utterly, should Islam ever gain ascendancy in this world in which we live. Islam is the only belief that propagates itself thus – by the sword.

And it is very patient.
Satu.

Flyer - I doubt any Muslim would belive that "Buddhism" article was written by a real Buddist, they are just too nice and spiritual to write such lies and hate filled things about anyone. Front Page mag did not put it up to promote either truth or peace.

I will leave it, but will ask any Muslim reading it not to belive it. I have known Buddists for decades and they do not even think that way about others.

Flyer, it is this kind of anti-Islamic propaganda that is spreading Islam in America. The more FrontPage mag and the other anti-Muslim sites spread their hate, the more they spread Islam to those who can see past the hate.

I wrote in my above reply about tolarance in Islam from the Quran itself towards all none Muslims, if you have questions about it I will be glad to answer them.

I have to add a very important point - when a Muslim reads the Quran it is a form of worship to God.

God loves the stumbeling readings of someone who has little knowledge of Arabic more than the great readers. When someone does not know to say the words they say the letters one by one, God loves that even more - their reading is called "Tah-Taha" - God loves that reading of the Quran the most.

Azooz,
No doubt the pagan, cruel satanic god you worship would love the pathetic readings of the believers, but if you stick your nose in a rug 5 times a day you will never have time to learn about the real world. That fact is evident from history. But heck Azooz that is really the job of those of us in the West since we have always been better, smarter and stronger that Islam

Hello Flyer,

Could you please post links instead of just copying the posts from your site to here?

Flyer, I would like your comments please on the new post I wrote a few days ago called "How Islamophobia Promotes Islam" -

http://qame.blogspot.com/2007/09/how-islamophobia-promotes-islam.html

Your comments on that post might prove me wrong, but I really think it is why Islam is spreading so fast in America and the World.
